GARBO & KANGAS

Mum, Dad and I went to Garbo (the locals nickname for the big shopping centre down the road, really known as Garden City) the other day so I could help them buy them their very first digital camera. After much discussion (and a few rest stops in Big W, see above) they decided upon a very lovely piece of equipment with which to photograph all of their grandchildren from Australia to the UK, now if only they could work out how it works. Then we all (just managed) to pile into my hire car for the trip home. A couple of days after that I went and visited an old family friend of mine Kev at the school where he works with troubled teenagers. They were making films as part of their course work so Kev thought it might be helpful for them to get a professional to talk to them about the industry, unfortunately he couldn't find one, so he settled on me. It was a really interesting day, to be thrown into this environment that I have heard so much about over the years. I think the teachers got something out of it, not too sure about the kids, but the local wildlife was intrigued as to what was going on.... My friend Megan came down with her son Liam and met Kev & I for lunch. Then Megsy and I went shopping and I bought her a Dolly Parton CD for her birthday, she's a bit of a fan !!
