ROAD TRIP....AFTER THOUGHTS

What did I learn?

One of Aunty Mary’s friends (92 years young) told me that it’s very important in life to “enjoy what you’re doing”. It got me thinking about what else I learnt on that trip.... so I shall share some of them...

1. When packing the boot of a car – always put the heavy things over the wheels (thanks for that one dad)

2. If you’re over 80 -waiting to get a bed in a home can take a while so make sure you get your name down early !

3. Mum STILL really hates me using her hairbrush

4. The stars really are more amazing in the outback than anywhere else in the world

5. It is possible to catch a snake with a coat hanger, a broom handle and pillow case

6. In England other cars flash you to let you in. In Australia other cars flash you to warn you of a police speed trap coming up!

7. When there’s a drought – it's essential to think before you flush

8. “I can see you’ve been grazing in the top paddock” is NOT a compliment (except in some African countries perhaps)

9. Coal trains can sometimes have over 100 carriages (DISCLAIMER: this figure is open to dispute as it was counted by my mother AS the train went past us)

10. It is possible to still be very much in love after 39 years of marriage

What do I still need to learn?

1. What secret ingredients Aunty Joy puts in her tarts...

2. Why Gin Gin is called Gin Gin...

3. If you’re travelling at @ 100 km an hour and your destination is 60 km away – how long it will take you to get there...

THE END
