FREWSKI & SANCH in SYDNEY...

I stayed with my friend Renee for a couple of nights. We met way back in 1993 when we both studied Business Mangement together (well we did a lot of driving around and rather a lot of drinking together, as well as some study). She lived in London for a while and it was great to spend time with her over there too. She now lives in Sydney with her lovely husband Mike who (amongst other talents) can fly planes !! Unfortuntately the weather was a bit crap to go this time round but if anyone is in Sydney and wants to fly over the Sydney Harbour, I’ll see what I can do !! Mates Rates and all that…. We had a lovely (& Healthy) Italian dinner on the Friday night and then went for a bit of a drive and hit the beach, well technically it is winter and it was freezing so instead of going for a swim in the surf, we settle for an iceblock !! (aka ice lolly) We had one of my favourite iceblocks…hmmmm yum. The image of the iceblock itself will soon be appearing on one of my new tshirts....It was bloody freezing - it reminded me of the last time we were together with the girls on a cold beach in Ireland about 6 years ago !!! I just might have to try and track down those photos....

That night my mate Sanchia (who I met on an old battleship on the Thames about 5 years and subsequently spent 3 months discussing serial killers with) came round for dinner. She very kindly brought some Tim Tams with her...no dinner is complete withouth a Tim Tam....The next day Renne and I went for a nice long walk from her house to the beach and all the way around the Headland.....I slightly misjudged the distance in this self timer shot and nearly broke my neck slipping on the rocks !

God I love the rocks by the beach. I think I actually love the rocks more than the sand or the water itself.....well actually, the waves crashing against the rocks is even better....This is an old style saltwater swimming pool. Simply build a swimming pool shaped hole next to ocean and presto - as the tide comes in, the pool fills up and people swim in it. Sorted. Tillsey was telling me some more fascinating about these pools the other night, but I can't remember any of them - @ Tills - can you help?Overall, I had a great time with Renee and it was so nice to finally be able to spend some quality time with her after all these years....and even Rankin made some new friends....

Geggles - will get back to you on the rock pools history. I recall something about there being several hundred in Aus, most in NSW, and also most are very shodily built, by the slacker generation of our great, great grandfolk, some time about 70 years ago. So all those concerned tourists who think it's dangerous to swim out in the surf for fear of drowning or being eatn by sharks, go, have a swim in an Aussie rock pool......
